There are about 61 Farmers Markets spanning 8 counties in Northern Ohio. As stated by Growhio a farmer's market is: "a venue for farmers and producers to sell agricultural and hand-crafted products directly to consumers.Their recent surge in popularity is due, in part, to the range of benefits they offer, such as sale of local produce at the peak of freshness and flavor, reduction in miles food travels, ability to communicate directly with those who raise or produce the food and access to meats raised humanely on pasture, eggs and poultry from free-range fowl, heirloom produce and handmade farmstead cheeses."
I agree with that description but believe Farmer's Markets are so much more. Each market has it's own history and character, it's own personality if you will. They provide a wide variety of learning and entertainment options like cooking classes, musical guests, kitchen demonstrations, food and beverage tastings, farm tours and much more. With more markets opening all the time there are unlimited ways to take advantage of these wonderful venues....but how do you know what's going on and when?
